You will need to see a doctor for antibiotics. It will not go away on its own. There are pills available OTC called Azo Standard; they will help mask the symptoms until you can get to a doctor. Be warned...Azo Standard makes your urine orange, so don't panic. It isn’t the fact that you had a catheter inserted, it is that you now have a bladder infection because you had a catheter inserted. If the discomfort lasts more than a day or so, I'd call your doctor b/c if the catheter is not inserted properly you can get a UTI.
